萧子显

萧子显（487年—537年），字景阳（一作景畅），南齐宗室，齐高帝萧道成孙，豫章文献王萧嶷第八子。南朝史学家及文学家，在南梁官至仁威将军、吴兴太守，爵封宁都县子。

生平

萧子显幼时聪慧，深受萧嶷的宠爱。齐武帝永明十一年（493年），封宁都县侯。天监元年（502年），梁朝建立，降封宁都县子。历任太子中舍人、国子祭酒、侍中、吏部尚书等职。

后迁仁威将军、吴兴郡太守，至郡未几即卒，时年五十一岁。博学能文，好饮酒、爱山水，不畏鬼神，恃才傲物。见九流宾客，不与交言，只是举起手中扇子，一挥而已，谥曰“骄”。

著作

撰有《后汉书》《晋史草》《南齐书》《普通北伐记》《贵俭传》等历史著作。但除《南齐书》外，均佚。

Xiao Zixian (simplified Chinese: 萧子显; traditional Chinese: 蕭子顯; pinyin: Xiāo Zǐ Xiǎn, c.489–c.537), courtesy name Jingyang (景陽) or Jingchang (景暢), formally Viscount Jiao of Ningdu (寧都驕子), was a Chinese historian best known for producing the Book of Qi (also known as Book of Southern Qi), part of the Twenty-Four Histories. He was the only author of the Twenty-Four Histories to be a member of the chronicled dynasty's ruling house.

Family

Xiao Zixian's grandfather was Xiao Daocheng (Emperor Gao of Southern Qi), and his father was Emperor Gao's second son Xiao Ni, the Prince of Yuzhang.

Xiao Zixian was the fifth son of Xiao Ni. His elder brothers were (in descending order of seniority) Xiao Zilian (萧子廉), Xiao Zike (萧子恪), Xiao Zicao (萧子操), and Xiao Zifan (萧子範). Xiao Zixian had two younger brothers: Xiao Ziyun (萧子雲) and Xiao Zihui (萧子晖).
